Division description

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved at any level at TWLL. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.

Tee Ball (ages 4-6)

Tee Ball is the entry level division for players, ages 4-6. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game.  Every player bats off of a tee and every player plays in the field each inning.  

Tee Ball players use bats and softer balls (baseballs and softballs) designated specifically for use in this division. The roster size for a Tee Ball team averages 8-12 players, with a season featuring 1-2 practices per week with a games played on weekdays and weekends.  There are no wins or losses at this level.

Coach Pitch (ages 5-7)

Coach Pitch is one division up from Tee Ball for players, ages 5-7.  The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game.  The primary difference from tee-ball is that each player bats off of pitches thrown from their coach.  If the ball is not put into play after 4-5 pitches, the player will be allowed to hit off of a tee. 

The roster size for a Tee Ball team averages 8-12 players, with a season featuring 1-2 practices per week with a games played on weekdays and weekends.  There are no wins or losses at this level.

Rookie (ages  5-8)

This is the highest level in the Clinic Division. Players playing in this Subdivision shall be League age 6- years-old through 8-years-old. The League’s preference is that players in this Subdivision have already played one year of Tee Ball and one year of Coach Pitch before playing in the Rookie Subdivision.  Rookie Level baseball is designed to be a transition from the Clinic Divisions to the more competitive upper divisions of Little League.

**Please note: 7 year olds who have played Rookie previously are eligible to play in the Minor A division.  It is not guaranteed, but 7 year olds wishing to play Minor A must register for Rookie, try out for Minor A and then be drafted onto a Minor A team in order to be placed in the Minor A division.  Roster spots for 7 year olds are not guaranteed.

In this division, the games are played on a full size little league field.  Players hit off of the blue flame pitching machine, but if they do not put the ball in player after their allotted number of pitches they may hit the ball off of a tee.  Runs are not counted in this division and there are no wins or losses, but teams are encouraged to keep track of "outs" to foster competitive play.  

Teams bat 1/2 of their lineup each inning and all players play defense on the field.

Minor A (ages 8-9)

The Minor A division is the initial level of the Minor division for players ages 8-9.  All players must try out and be drafted into this division.  Please note: 7 year olds are eligible for this division depending on the number of open roster spots in the division, but are required to try out and be drafted in order to be transferred into the Minor A division.

The Minor A division is competitive with outs, runs, wins and losses.  Players hit off of the blue flame pitching machine, but at a higher velocity than the Rookie division.  The league encourages managers to place players at a variety of positions in both the infield and outfield.  

**Please note: 8 year olds who have played Minor A previously are eligible to play in the Minor AA division.  It is not guaranteed, but 8 year olds wishing to play Minor AA must register for Minor A, try out for Minor AA and then be drafted onto a Minor AA team in order to be placed in the Minor AA division.  Roster spots for 8 year olds in AA are not guaranteed.

Minor AA (ages 9-10)

The Minor AA division is the second level of the Minors Division and the first introduction to player pitching.  The Minor AA division is intended for players ages 9-10.  All players must try out and be drafted into this division.  Please note: 8 year olds are eligible for this division depending on the number of open roster spots in the division, but are required to try out and be drafted in order to be transferred into the Minor AA division.

The Minor AA division is competitive with outs, runs, wins and losses.

Minor AAA (ages 10-11)

The Minor AAA division is the highest level of the Minors Division.  The Minor AA division is intended for players ages 10-11.  All players must try out and be drafted into this division.  

Please note: 9 year olds are eligible for this division depending on the number of open roster spots in the division, but are required to try out and be drafted in order to be transferred into the Minor AAA division.

The Minor AAA division is competitive with outs, runs, wins and losses.    

Major Division (ages 11-12)

The Majors division is the highest level of baseball at TWLL.  The Majors division is only open to player who are 11 and 12 years old.  All players must try out and be drafted into the division.  The number of 11 year olds drafted into the division will depend on the number of open roster spots available.

Intermediate (50/70) (ages 12-13)

The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was introduced in January, 2010, as a pilot program for 12- and 13-year-olds which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.

Challenger (ages 4 -18)

The Challenger Division is for players with special needs who may need assistance during the games. Our team plays other Challenger teams throughout District 30.
